Tonga (population approximately 100,000, capital Nuku'alofa on Tongatapu island) is the only Pacific Island monarchy — the Kingdom of Tonga — and has maintained continuous royal rule under the Tupou dynasty since 1845; King Tupou VI has reigned since 2012.
