Armenia's economy presents two distinct packaging and brand design markets. The first is a fast-scaling technology sector concentrated in Yerevan: Armenia's IT industry generated approximately US$2.3 billion in turnover in 2024, contributing roughly 7% of GDP and employing over 58,700 people across 1,253 active IT companies, of which 538 develop their own software products. The EU is providing a €3 million compensation fund and a separate €2.8 million technical assistance programme to support the rebranding to 'Armenian Brandy,' which is being registered as Armenia's own geographical indication. This category-wide brief with a firm legislative deadline represents a rare, large-scale packaging redesign mandate across YBC's portfolio and smaller producers. Armenia's diamond polishing and jewellery industry exported approximately US$577.5 million in 2023 (ranked 4th in Armenia's foreign trade by value), with 27 companies and approximately 5,000 employees active in the sector.
